Barre Town Family Fun Day Benefits the Vermont Foodbank
On Saturday, May 17th, the Problem Solving Through Literature (PSTL) 7th grade class from Barre Town School held a Family Fun Day community service learning project to benefit the Vermont Foodbank.
From the Desk of Doug O\'Brien
Vermont’s economy and culture are inextricably tied to this land and its bounty. From traditional dairies to small-scale organic farms, images of Vermont inexorably include farms and cows even though, now, fewer and fewer of us directly draw our livelihood from the land. But we all eat and we all rely on farmers to ensure a safe, affordable and abundant food supply. As the author and philosopher Wendell Berry observed, “Eating is an inescapably agricultural act.”

Notes from the Road
During the past 4 months I have traveled throughout the state doing what I enjoy most—working with current donors, meeting prospective donors, and securing food to help Vermonters in need. This month I thought I would show you some of the many places I visited and share with you how these businesses are helping to fight hunger and feed hope.
